sho Cartoons | The Poetry of Lee Kisling

Lee’s cartoons are ideas or reflections of culture seen through his own absurdist point of view. Obviously there is no formal training in drawing to be found here. As a cartoonist, he had one of those liberating moments as a teenager when he discovered the work of cartoonist John Glashon whose idea was that strange and often poorly-drawn artwork carried the humor much farther than just the idea of the cartoon. Five of Lee’s cartoons were published by FreeVerse Magazine in 2008, but mostly these are free range chickens. The poems are sometimes kind of like the cartoons – life is sad but also funny. Enjoy.
